Clare Dowd, Executive Director
Clare brings a strong background in international marketing and development to ArtCorps, coupled with a passion and commitment to art for social change. Clare's interest in international development began with her work as a teacher in Colombia and later as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kenya in the late 1980s. Shortly after receiving an MBA in International Business, she returned to the nonprofit sector, working as a consultant with NGOs, including PACT and Cultural Survival. Clare continues to deepen the ArtCorps Art for Social Action methodology in the field, forge strategic partnerships with grassroots organizations in Central America, identify financial resources and build the organizational structure that will enable ArtCorps to bring arts for social change to communities worldwide.
Jane Martha Oslin, Program Manager, Communications and Outreach

Marta manages the design and implementation of our communications strategy and artist recruitment. With a background in community-based programs and participatory research, she is passionate about engaging communities in social change and sustainability. Prior to joining ArtCorps, Marta conducted research on health disparities at Tufts University and evaluated Oxfam America’s gender equity and microfinance programs in Latin America. She served as a Peace Corps volunteer in West Africa. She holds an MA in Sustainable International Development from the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University.
Louisa Trackman, Development Officer

Louisa joins ArtCorps with a background in international development and a strong understanding of project design and evaluation. Her previous work includes designing and implementing an impact evaluation of a fair trade program that connects indigenous artisans with the US market. Louisa has an MA in Development Economics and Human Security from The Fletcher School at Tufts University.
Molly Barrett, Administrative and Financial Assistant

Molly joins ArtCorps with a strong comprehension for art and its relationship to the economy. As a fellow for Community Water Solutions, she worked in Ghana educating communities about sanitation and waterborne illnesses, while helping to build a sustainable water treatment system. Molly assists the ArtCorps staff with their work in development and communications, while managing finances and administrative duties. Molly received her BA from Connecticut College. She demonstrates a passion for the arts as a vehicle for change and continues to deepen her understanding for international development.
Fernando Carcache, Regional Program Manager, Nicaragua
From his home base in Nicaragua, Fernando provides technical assistance for artists and partners to build and implement their annual plans, and he will help to develop our regional strategy. Fernando brings a wealth of experience in supporting nonprofit organizations through art, and a solid foundation in communications and political advocacy for development. From a young age, Fernando worked on issues of sexual and reproductive health and youth leadership as part of a youth group that advocated before the United Nations. His work experience includes 15 years of service with the Puntos de Encuentro foundation, an organization known for the success of its education and entertainment strategies for social change, and its innovative programs such as the television series on human rights and reproductive health: Sexto Sentido and Contracorriente. Fernando’s last position was as an advisor to the executive director, and he played a key role in that organization’s international expansion. Fernando holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the Central American University, and a Masters in Business Administration from the Ibero-American University of Science and Technology (UNICIT), and he completed the Upper Management Program of the INCAE Business School.
Mercedes Sanchez, Consultant, El Salvador and Honduras
Mercedes has experience working with several international community development organizations and experience managing and implementing organizational and community strategies, starting with her work in the field of Social Communication and her studies in Social Marketing and Strategic Planning of social projects. Seven years of experience as a volunteer in communities in Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador led her to discover her passion for art and creativity as tools for education, communication and community participation in social movements. In the past few years she has opened non-profits to facilitation and coordination of community organizing processes to bring about social transformation, especially in the areas of gender, human rights, environment, identity and recovery of historical memory.
