We don't plant trees,
we plant
knowledge.
We don't cure disease,
we cure
apathy.
We don't provide clean water,
we provide tools to change behavior.
We don't build schools,
we build
leadership.
Social
change is hard.
ArtCorps helps.
Today is the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, and ArtCorps is proud that our work helps preserve the natural habitats and species in Central America. In that spirit of celebrating
and honoring our environment, please consider donating to sustain our
arts-based workshops and activities that re-establish the bond between
communities and their natural heritage.
Clare Dowd Executive Director
P.S. Donate now and help sustain our work using art as a tool for conservation in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador!

ArtCorps Artists-in-Action Featured Artist: Daniela Prieto Bischof
Daniela Prieto Bischof is a Chilean visual artist
partnering with the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) in Guatemala. Building on her work in 2009, Daniela has fostered a new
generation of artists and environmentalists - using art workshops not only to
harness the creative spirit but create more awareness about biodiversity in the
Maya Biosphere Reserve. Located in what was the heart of Maya civilization from
350 B.C. to 150 A.D., the reserve is a rainforest covering 8,100 square miles
and the home of jaguars, pumas, scarlet macaws and howler monkeys.
"I search out new horizons,
knowing that art and organizing are the means to reach people, and that people
are the means to conserve nature." -Daniela Prieto Bischof
 Daniela is
expanding her workshops this year to launch a fire safety campaign using coded
flags to promote sustainable forest management. She is also developing workshops
to train the staff of WCS and community groups to use art as tool for education
and outreach. Read Daniela's recent blog post about integrating art,
community organizing and conservation.
